We are following COVID-19 protocols
Dear BIPOC Sangha,
After a little over 2 years of wonderful, supportive, dedicated, inspiring practice, throughout the pandemic, we have decided to lay our weekly Saturday meetings to rest. We thank each & everyone of you who ever attended. Our time together was invaluable to say the least. We are grateful to have shared a space with other folks of color, where we were able to deepen our knowledge of the dharma, meditate, and build spiritual community from the onset of the pandemic. We wish you all happiness, greater ease, and lesser suffering, on your paths.
With much metta,
Yvonne & Sinclair
We are a very small organization that centers supporting the Vipassana meditation retreats and dharma practices for BIPOC and queer communities. Our BIPOC sangha is peer led and Dhamma Dena is currently volunteer run.
Dhamma Dena BIPOC Sangha has a google group where we share resources, organize and seek support from the sangha, and post updates relating to Dhamma Dena. This is a google group / listserv for Dhamma Dena BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) Sangha, past, present and future.
Contact: bipoc.sangha@dhammadena.org to be added to the google group or with any questions.
The BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Sangha is a group of people of color waking up and getting free! Sangha is the Pali and Sanskrit word for assembly and community, and is used to describe a group of people who come together to practice meditation and mindfulness together.
Every Thursday we gather to meditate, share the teachings of liberation, and celebrate this precious life. Our inspiring teachers guide the sangha in practices which support us in learning to live more fully in the present moment.
The People of Color Sangha was officially launched in December of 2006 with a small group of dedicated practitioners. The goal of the sangha is bring mindfulness into our daily lives and move into greater states of love, joy and clarity. We come together as a community of people of color for meditation, practice and resilience, to support each other and provide a balm to soothe our continued work forward.

The Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Sangha is a bi-weekly gathering of self-identified BIPOC practitioners who meditate together and explore the teachings of the Buddha in the light of personal experience.
Each bi-weekly session offers a short talk, guided meditation, and/or a silent sit for 30 - 40 minutes. Some gatherings add a 10 - 15 minute question and response period to help support the practice.
While we understand that many non-BIPOC people may be interested in participating, we ask that they refrain from joining this program which is specifically offered to provide shelter and respite to our BIPOC community.
