Palm Springs Sangha Retreat with Arinna Weisman & Ian Challis
February 8 - February 10, 2019
Insight Community of the Desert Retreat at Dhamma Dena with Arinna Weisman and Ian Challis
Come practice together with your sangha friends in the high desert! We are very happy to offer this special, first-time opportunity for Insight Community of the Desert sangha members to come together for a weekend of deepening practice.
The peace and beauty of the desert and Dhamma Dena offer a setting to support our growing practice as individuals and community. This silent weekend retreat will encourage us to unplug and come back into presence with ourselves and life, through the healing practices of insight meditation (vipassana) and lovingkindness (metta).
The retreat is open to beginning and experienced meditators. Guidance and support will be offered through daily instructions, Dhamma talks, and Q&A.
Retreat begins Friday, February 8, with arrival and registration between 3:00pm and 5:00pm, (dinner at 6:00pm)
Retreat ends Sunday, February 10, at 2:00pm (following lunch at 12:30pm)
Costs & Fees
Residential $130 for the weekend
Including accommodation and three vegetarian meals daily
Housing is simple; all meals are vegetarian with vegan & gluten-free options.
Work exchange & scholarships available according to need, upon request.
Dāna (दान) is a Sanskrit and Pali word for the virtue of generosity. The Buddha said the teachings were priceless, more valuable than all the jewels in the kingdom and so are offered freely to all. This has amazingly been sustained for 2,600 years. Honoring this tradition, the teachings at Dhamma Dena continue to be offered freely. Teacher support is provided by voluntary donations at the end of a retreat or your time here at the center. These offerings are often the only source of teachers’ income. Registration fees only cover the cost of sustaining buildings and food.
Dāna offerings to teachers and staff are gratefully received.
